LEMON SQUEEZER
Second half of 18th century

White paste, white slip and transparent, colourless glaze. The lemon squeezer has a ring foot and everted rim. The conical central boss has seven facets and four tiny triangular holes at the base (one is blocked by glaze). When the bowl fills up the cylindrical trap inside the boss, it begins to flow out of glaze design in cobalt blue with black outlines has bled. On the outside of the bowl is an undulating leafy border with tiny flowers, which is repeated on a smaller scale around the inside rim. Six flowers stems radiate from the boss, which is painted with stylised leaves.
